Well we are already half way through August and its already been a whirl of activity!
We’ve had a rockabilly fix at GreazeFest and are still in the throws of Brisbane’s annual hoe-down at the Ekka.
But hold on to your hats people because there are still HEAPS of things to do in Brisbane in the second half of August.
Here’s a peak at just a few of the things you could do in the next two weeks – including a few of the things on my own itinerary.
For more details about these events just check out the individual listings on the What’s On calendar
Brisbane Fringe Festival
Like your arts fierce and free-range? Then the Brisbane Fringe Festival is for you! The festival is not for profit and allows Brisbane’s independent artist to have complete control over every aspect of their performance – from the subject matter to the choice of venue.
Performance genres cover everything from art exhibitions to comedy shows, in venues from West End coffee shops to the Judith Wright Centre so there is bound to be something that catches your eye! Runs from 14 – 30 August.
Unlock Your Style Book Launch

So it is with great excitement that I will be attending the launch of Nikki’s manifesto “Unlock Your Style” in Paddington on 20th August. For more information or to order your copy of the book click here… Unlock Your Style Book Launch
Take a walk on the dark-side and party with Brisbane’s vampire royalty at the Bloodlust Ball. This event is a must for anyone who appreciates vampire-inspired fiction, films and art and is styled as Grande Ball reminiscent of the 17th & 18th centuries.
This years theme is Vampyres of the Silver Scream so dig out your best gothic finery and get down to the Tivoli on 23rd August!
And if none of your friends are adventurous enough to come with you? My sources tell me that there is a special icebreaker designed to help people make new vampire friends 🙂 Tickets available from www.cmvs.org.au or at the door on the night.
LGBT performances, pop up bars and live karaoke comps are on my hit list!
