This Week In Brisbane: 4 – 11 January

Whats on Brisbane 4-11 Jan

Aaaaaannddd…. we’re BACK!

Welcome to the first “This Week in Brisbane” post for 2015! I’m not sure if any of you realised but I put this weekly events listing post on hold during the festive season, as I figured we all had MORE than enough on our plates at the time.

But now 2015 is underway I thought you might be back to needing the scoop on whats happening around town. And surprisingly for this early in the year there is actually quite a bit going on! There are shows for kids, shows for grown ups, sports action and a cracker of an emerging artists festival to choose from.

So to kick things of for the year, here’s what’s happening this week in Brisbane…

Giggle & Hoot

When: Finishes Sunday 11th January

Where: Playhouse Theatre, QPAC

Cost: A Reserve – $44.90 / B Reserve $39.90

Parents of littlies aged 5 and under this is one show you DO NOT want to miss!  Jimmy Giggle, Hoot and Hootabelle are taking over the Playhouse at QPAC with a live version the perenially popular ABC 2 show Giggle & Hoot. This is a great holiday treat for toddlers and pre-schoolers – and possibly even their Mums (I’ve heard Jimmy giggle is a bit of a hit with mums… no judgement here ladies 😉 )

The Illusionists 1903

When: Daily at 2.00pm and 7.00pm until Sunday 11th January

Where: Concert Hall, QPAC

Cost: Tickets from $79.00 for adults and $49 for kids, Family Passes available for $199

More than just a mere magic show the Illusionists 1903 combine a mix of theater, spectacle and old world grandeur to keep their audience spellbound. The show takes the audience back to the hey day of the magic show and explores the origins of most complex and dangerous illusions ever performed. Houdini eat your heart out!

Brisbane International

When: Daily until Sunday 11th January, with semi-finals and being held on Saturday and Sunday

Where: Pat Rafter Arena

Tennis nuts have probably had their tickets for months – but even if you’re not an uber-fan you’d be hard pressed to find more heart-stopping, seat of your pant action than the Brisbane International.

Tickets are still available to all the early matches, and you can also get single session tickets for the women’s singles and doubles finals. However if you want to see the men’s grand final you’ll have to get it as part of a Platinum Package which includes the semi and grand finals.
